The holidays are coming up, and for those who love to decorate, I have some ideas for you. I go all out for Christmas! I have a tree in almost every room on our house, and I absolutely love the joy I feel when my home is decked out. However, as a homeschool mom, how am I to get school work and decorating done? Well, I have a solution!
I have one tree that I put in our homeschool area. I use the decorating of this tree for school work. My kids are at the ages of learning to make grafts in math. So, I have my kids work
together to decorate their Christmas tree, teaching them teamwork. After they have it all decorated, I have them each create a chart showing the variety of ornaments displayed on their tree. This exercise gets them counting, collecting data, being creative, and working together. It also makes doing school work fun.
We don't just do this with a Christmas tree. We have done it with gingerbread house making as well. I like taking fun activities we normally do, or day to day chores, and activities, including them in our school work. It gets my kids excited, and shows them that the things they are learning can be put to use in their everyday lives. Don't be afraid to have fun my fellow homeschool moms and dads. Doing things like this makes schooling at home more enjoyable for both us, and the kids.
